William E. Moran was appointed Chancellor of The University of North Carolina at Greensboro after the resignation of James Ferguson. After his resignation, Dr. Ferguson returned to teaching in the Department of History.
The first National Alumni Phonathon received pledges of more than $70,000.
The Gay Students Union was organized.
The Office of Minority Affairs was established.
The Class of 1929 gave the Chain-of-Office Medallion to the University as their 50th anniversary gift. The Medallion is worn by the Chancellor at official events.
