Bat Ecology by Kunz and Fenton
There are several volumes dedicated to synthesizing the state of understanding the biology of bats and mice that I regularly use in my research and teaching. This particular volume was published the year that I started at UNCG. When I was formulating my local bat research projects, in both the North Carolina Piedmont and Coastal Plain, I used this book extensively as a theoretical backdrop for my proposals because it represented the state of bat ecology when my ideas for local research projects were forming. I still refer to this book regularly and it is one of the first books that my graduate students in bat ecology read when writing their proposals.
