Disordered Thought in Schizophrenia
by Loren Chapman and Jean Chapman
Schizophrenia is a catastrophic illness that markedly disrupts both the form and content of patients' thought.
Published in 1973, Disordered Thought in Schizophrenia was a landmark text on the measurement and
understanding of cognitive impairment in the disorder. I had the great fortune to have the book's authors,
Professors Loren & Jean Chapman, as my graduate mentors at the University of Wisconsin. This book reminds
me of the rigorous training I received from them, as well as the challenge and joy that comes from scientific
investigation of such complex human behaviors. I am pleased to select this text to commemorate my promotion
and honor my mentors.
