The Handbook of Critical Intercultural Communication
by Thomas Nakayama & Rona Halualani (Eds.)
This is the very first collection of scholarships that explore and interrogate intercultural communication from the critical paradigm. Critical intercultural communication troubles commonly accepted power relations, demands contextualization and reflexivity, and is motivated by justice, equality, and inclusiveness. I chose this book because many of the authors included in the collection have inspired my own scholarly development. In addition, I had the honor of being included in the volume. The book establishes critical scholarship as an important lens with which to see the world and reminds the reader that communication has the power to disrupt divisiveness and injustice.
