Left To Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust
by Immaculée Ilibagiza, with Steve Erwin
When I first read Left to Tell, it had such a meaningful impact on how I viewed my life. Many people may view this book as a story on survival, which it is! However, it is much more than how to survive day-to-day. It is a book that reflects on the importance of having purpose in your life. It was inspiring for me to read how these women survived 91 days in a small bathroom not knowing if they would live to see the next day. Yet, the author went beyond survival and found her reason to live, which she was left to tell.
This story inspired a difference in how I view and work with my students by empowering them to find purpose in their lives. As I teach seniors who are about to embark on their professional careers, I don't want them to just survive, but to purposefully live in this world!
