Why I chose this CD: Flamenco music is at the soul of Spanish culture. Once I studied in Spain as an undergraduate and later as a graduate student, this music became a part of my soul. Although the "sevillanas" are not considered flamenco by purists, it is commonly accepted as part of the flamenco culture. It is not just a type of music, but a dance, one which I was determined to learn and eventually did. Anyone who has ever studied or lived abroad will identify with "El Adiós", my favorite "sevillanas".
