I read this book as part of a freshman-year elective course in Psychology. The course was my first foray into thinking critically - thinking like a scientist. Whether or not I agreed with the author's theses was beside the point. I was fortunate to participate so early in my undergraduate training in an extensive study of how people may think about the world around them, and why they may come to accept or reject certain ideas. This book represents a foundation that was laid during that course, from which I was able to more fully engage in all the educational opportunities that were to follow.
